Comptroller Alkali Seeks Collaboration of Stakeholders in the Oil & Gas Free Trade Zone to Boost Economic Growth

The newly appointed Customs Area Controller of the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has upped its performance ante as he has recently engaged on vigorous partnership efforts to achieve customs operational gains at the Onne Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
The newly redeployed Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, Comptroller Aliyu Mohammed Alkali, is leaving no stone unturned as he has reaffirmed his commitment to facilitating trade and ensuring compliance within the Zone.

In his management’s effort to strengthen collaboration and enhance economic activities, the nonsense CAC has continued to engage key government agencies, enterprises, shipping companies, and associations operating within the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone to seek for robust collaboration for the economic growth of the zone.
At a recent strategic meeting, where he interacted with some government agencies, which include the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zones Authority (OGFTZA), the Nigeria Port Authority (NPA), the Nigeria Police Force, the Eastern Ports Command, and the Nigeria Immigration Service Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone Command, Comptroller Alkali has called for a more robust ties to make the zine vibrant for trade.

In his address at the stakeholders meeting, Comptroller Mohamed Alkali emphasized the need for compliance with trade regulations, while urging all freight forwarders, enterprises, and other stakeholders to perfect their SGD(s) on pre-release approval within 14 days of transaction.
He stressed that strict adherence to this directive would enable the command to maintain accurate records and ensure a seamless business environment.
To this effect, Alkali reiterated the command’s readiness to fostering a compliant and business-friendly atmosphere, and to promote stronger working relationship between stakeholders and the Nigeria Customs Service.
I’m his response, Managing Director, OGFTZA, who was represented by the General Manager of Operations, Mr. Adekunle Ajayi, welcomed Comptroller Alkali to the Zone and assured him of their full cooperation in achieving the set objectives.
The Customs Area Controller also took the opportunity to address fielded questions and concerns raised by stakeholders, which demonstrated keen interest in resolving challenges that may arise against the smooth operations within the Zone.
With this proactive approach, Comptroller Alkali promised to bolster economic activities in the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone, while ensuring compliance and efficient service delivery across all operational facets.
Other notable enterprises that were in attendance at the stakeholders’ meeting include INTELS, Notore Petrochemical Company, Indorama Petrochemical Company, and Total Energies were represented. Similarly, shipping companies like OMT and Blue Star Shipping Company, as well as freight forwarders like PrimePort and Quicka, were also in attendance.
Also, other participants in attendance at the forum include Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON).
