1st Quarter Report: KLT Customs’ Revenue Soars with N38Bn Collection, as Edelduok Hands Over Seized Expired Drugs to NAFDAC

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has continued to consolidate on its impressive revenue generation run in recent times under the present leadership.

It is worthy to note that since the advent of the esteemed leadership of Comptroller (Mrs) EJ Edelduok as Customs Area Controller (CAC), the command has persistently witnessed an impressive achievement, especially in revenue generation.

In justification, the CAC who recently highlighted the Command’s achievements in a media briefing held on April 15, 2025, in the Command’s premises according to the press statement made available to the press by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC VU Ogagbor, however disclosed that the KLT command under her watch generated a total sum of Thirty-Eight Billion, One Hundred and Five Million, Nine Hundred and Eighty-Seven Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifteen Naira (N38,022,972,592.00) only in the first quarter of  2025 (i.e from January to March 2025).

However, when compared with the preceding first quarter of 2024 with Twenty-Three Billion, Six Hundred and Sixty-Eight Million, Fifty-Six Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirty-Five Naira (N23,668,056,535.00) collection, it clearly showed a progressive difference of Fourteen Billion, Four Hundred and Thirty Seven Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty-one Thousand, Three Hundred and Eighty Naira (N14,437,931,380.00) only, depicting 61% increase.

Comptroller Edelduok however attributed the impressive achievement to the effective revenue collection strategies adopted by her leadership, as well as the efforts of the officers and men of the command in combating smuggling and illicit trade.

On the Command’s Anti-Smuggling achievement, Comptroller Edelduok revealed that the command intercepted and seized Nine (9) 40-foot containers of expired drugs which contravened the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023, as he handed over the seized items to officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for further action.

While expressing gratitude with thanks to the Command’s stakeholders and partner agencies for their collaboration and implored them to work together to move the country forward, Comptroller Edelduok emphasized the command’s commitment to stakeholder engagement through an open-door policy, fostering positive relationships and promoting compliance.

She as well appreciated Officers and Men of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command for demonstrating integrity in the fight against smuggling and illicit trade, and urged them to always adhere strictly to the rules of engagements while discharging their statutory duties.

As she appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team for their support, motivation and the platform to excel, Comptroller EJ Edelduok reaffirmed that the command is dedicated to transparency, efficiency and national security in all operations.
