Comptroller Frank Onyeka in Remarkable First Quarter Revenue Record Breaking Feat at TinCan Customs, Posts Unprecedented N347.9Bn Collection

The TinCan Island Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has continued to soar in its mandate of revenue collection obligation as it recorded an impressive revenue return, with a whooping N347.9bn collection in the first quarter of year 2025.

This unprecedented 2025 first quarter N347.9bn collection, which is between the months of January and March this year is regarded as a record-breaking feat in the history of the command, as it has never been attained since its creation.

It could be said that since the advent of the incumbent and vibrant Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka, in December 2024, the command has been the ‘cynosure of all eyes’ due to positive evolving developments, characterized by massive collaborations, parley with relevant stakeholders and sister security agencies, strong wake up call to both officers of the command and patronizing traders to the needful in accordance with the trade laws, regular meetings, among other measures, in the watchful eyes of the hardworking Area Controller.   

However, the total amount generated for the first quarter of 2025 which is N347,935,672,476.00k is 12.6% higher than the N304,000,000,000.00k the command generated in last year 2024 corresponding period.

The CAC who made this disclosure when a group of media personnel paid him a courtesy visit, gave a breakdown that the January, 2025 revenue generation record shows a total of N116, 412,735,766.23 which represents 24.06% over and above the figure of N88, 430,126,122.76 recorded within the corresponding period of 2024.

While the record for February of 2025 also shows that the sum of N103,254,292,839.23k was generated which is also 2.90 % over and above the sum of N100,253,187,074.72k generated over the corresponding month of February 2024.

The Command generated the sum of N128,268,749,635.00k for March 2025 and this is 10.3% higher than the M115,100,000,000.00k generated over the corresponding period of 2024.

Comptroller Onyeka however stressed the need for stakeholders to do more honest declarations so that seamless operational environment may exist and all sides may benefit from a much better conducive ecosystem.

He was particularly appreciative of the support of the CG of Customs and the positive reviews that the media has so far accorded the Command.

He promised to continue to engage stakeholders in every way possible so that there can be more all round improvement in all aspects of their operations.

The Controller is seen as a quintessential and charismatic person by many having hit the ground running after assuming office in December 2024.

He has been in the forefront of implementing the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi’s policy of consolidation, collaboration and innovation in carrying out his functions, a development that has rightly aided his performances at the Command.
