… Expect Higher Revenue with B’Odogwu, Comptroller Olomu Assures

The Apapa Area One Port Command of Nigeria Customs Service, the ‘Numero Uno’ revenue collecting command of customs has continued to evolve in its robust revenue generating trajectory, just as its leadership is leaving no stone unturned in consolidating on its remarkable achievement.
Since the deployment of the present Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, PhD, fsi, the revenue collection fortunes of the command has in a geometric progression advanced, as it has been persistent to emphatically make bold statement with daily and monthly record breaking collections.
For the 2025 first quarter performance, the command made yet another unprecedented revenue collection, as Comptroller Babatunde Olomu PhD, fsi, once again disclosed a whopping total collection of N694,167,949,142.56 recorded in three months between the months of January to March 2025.

According to the press release statement made available to press by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Tunde Ayagbalo, the Area Controller recently made this disclosure when he received members of the House of Representatives Committee on Customs who paid him a working visit.
An elated Comptroller Olomu however informed his visitors in significant terms that the first quarter collected figure remarkably outweighs the N489b collected sum from the preceding periods of January to March 2024, with a huge difference of about N205b, representing 41.8% increase.
During his briefing to the Hon. Leke Abejide led Committee, Comptroller Olomu attributed the Command’s successes to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR and expressed optimism in the command’s ability to surpass the N2.357 trillion it collected for the whole of 2024 .
The CAC while applauding the the support of Customs CG said,, “Under the guidance and effective supervision of the CGC, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi,MFR, we are optimistic about surpassing last year’s total collection as evident in our first quarter report.
May I also state that the CGC is directly instrumental to our successes in terms of our overall productivity”.
“This Command achieved a daily record-breaking revenue collection of N18.9bn on Friday, March 14, 2025, which stands out as the highest in the 135-year history of the service.
“This new record breaks the existing highest daily collection of N18.2b which was achieved in October 2024 by us.
“The Apapa Customs Area Command domiciled at the premier port plays a vital role in Nigeria’s economy, facilitating trade and ensuring the enforcement of regulations related to imports and exports.
“This Command oversees customs activities with capacity to handle the highest volume of trade not only in Nigeria but also in the West and Central Africa sub region,” he said.
He added that the Command has been instrumental in enhancing the ease of doing business in Nigeria by improving Customs clearance processes, reducing delays in cargo clearance, and leveraging technology through the use of ICT and fast-track.
Furthermore, Comptroller Olomu who is at the forefront in embracing technology in the operations of the command under his watch, however gave positive propensity on the newly introduced B’Odogwu platform, an improved indigenous modernization customs operational tool which recently replaced NICIS, as he noted that it is improving and contributing immensely to trade as it is fast gaining more user acceptance and adaptability.
Comptroller Olomu expressed confidence in the Command’s ability to achieve greater revenue collection with B’Odogwu introduction, while describing the first quarter figures as a good start showing prospects for better days ahead.
The CAC also told the lawmakers that Apapa Port Command of NCS has achieved the processing of export under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Guided Trade Initiative (GTI) where some Nigerian companies are participating robustly as exporters and further encouraged by migrating them to the status of Authorised Economic Operators (AEO)
He gave a two weeks ago instance, when the service achieved a breakthrough by issuing the first Pre Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) under the B’Odogwu regime. Comptroller Olomu described it as a significant milestone in the service journey towards an ICT backbone that is indigenously propelled and sustainable for modern Customs management in Nigeria.
In his remarks, Hon Abejide, speaking on behalf of the visiting lawmakers, commended Comptroller Olomu for his ingenuity in making the Command very productive, even as he assured the CAC and stakeholders, including licensed Customs agents of utmost legislative support
The lawmakers also praised the Area Controller for leading the Command efficiently while throwing their weight behind the drive for effective trade facilitation backed by technology and promoting global best practices in Customs administration in Nigeria
