B’Odogwu Wins, As TinCan Customs Achieves Humongous Daily Revenue Collection of N16.4Bn

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has continued to reap the benefits of B’Odogwu modernization platform when recently the TinCan Island Area Command of the service attained a landmark daily revenue collection with an ‘El Dorado’ height of N16.4billion.

According to the no nonsense Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, under whose leadership watch the historical daily revenue landmark was achieved, Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka, it was a clear win for technological efficiency and collaboration.

According to the press statement made available to press by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Oscar Ivara, the Tincan Island Port Command of the Service was pleased to announce a landmark revenue collection of ₦16,411,402,227.27 on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, which was made possible through the effective deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) known as Bodogwu.

The statement quoted the Customs Area Controller, Frank Onyeka, as saying that the achievement is a strong indicator of the efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness of the Bodogwu system in streamlining port operations.

According to him, the “Bodogwu system has drastically improved the ability of licensed Customs agents and stakeholders to access payment platforms and complete cargo clearance processes in real-time, without unnecessary delays or administrative bottlenecks.

Also, he pointed out that the Bodogwu systems has integrated all key elements of port and Customs operations under one digital interface, enabling faster processing, accurate valuation, and enhanced monitoring of cargo activities, and as a result, both the Command and port users can now operate in a more predictable and efficient environment that supports Nigeria’s economic goals.

Furthermore, Comptroller Onyeka noted that the record – breaking revenue figure is not just about figures, as he stated that it reflects the game-changing role of the Bodogwu system in modernizing port operations and further highlights the benefits of the Command continues collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, which includes terminal operators, shipping companies, licensed Customs agents, and regulatory agencies.

“This coordinated approach ensures that cargo clearance processes are seamless, compliant, and business-friendly”, the CAC stated.

He as well reiterated that, the Command remains dedicated to enhancing trade facilitation, securing revenue for national development, and supporting all port users in achieving timely and cost-effective cargo clearance.

It would be recalled that since the advent of Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka as the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the second highest revenue collection performance command of the service, there have been a lot of new dimensional initiatives and measures adopted to improve the performance lot of the command in terms of revenue collection, anti-smuggling drive and facilitation of trade.

His high powered stakeholders engagement and vibrant collaborative posture with relevant stakeholders and sister agencies’ robust information sharing, is seen to have magically worked wonders at the command as import of offensive items, consignments through the command have significantly nose-dived.

There are also several other measures adopted by Onyeka to check revenue leakages, which include frontally confronting the menace associated with the use of bonded terminal to perpetrate duty evading fraud, effective use of mother ports, effective use of IT to reduce human contacts, ensuring officers and stakeholders are on same page in adaptation with the trade laws, among other blitzkrieg measures.
