The recent elevation of Naijim Ogundeyi, the present Officer In Charge of Enforcement, Ogun Area 1 Command, Idiroko to the rank of a Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC) is indeed a well-deserved one and a delight to many colleagues, family friends and well-wishers who are keenly in tuned with his enforcement capabilities and swaga over the years.

Deputy Comptroller NA Ogundeyi, a thorough bred officer of the service, with high technical abilities and requisite enforcement exposure to effectively turn the stake of the operations unit around, has over the years become an unseen hands in the positive turn anti-smuggling campaign of the command.             

Speaking to TransQuest on his promotion, the calm, gentle customs officer, with no-nonsense enforcement stance Deputy Comptroller NA Ogundeyi, an all-round enforcement guru who had transverse the entire Zone ‘A’ in the course of his enforcement duty thanked God Almighty, as well as the CGC and his management team for his recent elevation to Deputy Comptroller rank, as he promised to continue to bring to bear his vast customs operational experience to better the lot of the service in all his disposition, especially at his present duty post as Officer In Charge of Operation in Ogun Area One Command, Idiroko.

Born into the family of Ogundeyi on October 23rd 1968, Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC) NA Ogundeyi attended Ilase Local Authority Primary School and later proceeded to Imotu Community Commercial Academy for his Secondary Education between 1979 and 1984.

He later on attended Lagos State University (LASU) for his first Degree where obtained BSc in Public Administration (2004 and 2009), and in 2016, he got his Masters’ Degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from same University.

He enlisted to join the Nigerian Custom service in 1992 as a Senior Custom Assistant and rose through the ranks till date.

DC Ogundeyi has served in different customs formations and Area Commands such as Seme, Borno/Yobe, Federal Operations Units (FOUs), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Airport, Zonal Headquarters, Ogun Area 1, among others.

He has up his sleeves several awards and commendations, such as; Gallant Officer of the year 2004, Best Seizing Officer of the month of March 2016 at FOU ‘A’, Best Anti-Smuggling Officer of the month of July 2018, Exceptional Display of Integrity and  Professionalism Award by NSA in March 2020, etc.

As an enforcement guru, NA Ogundeyi was nicknamed “Legelege Can Destroy’ based on his enforcement performance over the years, while his on the job dedication, hard work and braveness have led to unquantifiable level of successful seizures for the service.

He had attended several local and international courses in the course of his duty, some of which include; Border Patrol and Border Management held in Zone Arizona USA – May 2013, LEIU/AILE/A Bloomington Minnesota USA May 2017, Criminal Investigation Course Airport Hotel, Ikeja, 13th Feb to 27th 2017, Drug Detection Apapa Seaport 6th to 10th March, Capacity building (PSIN) Kubwa May 2013, Basic Course Custom College, Ikeja July 1994, among others.

DC NA Ogundeyi is presently the DC in Charge of Enforcement at Ogun Area I Command, Idiroko. He is happily married with Children
