Things are indeed looking bright operationally for the Ports and Terminal Multi-Purpose Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), as the command which is blessed with the right leadership in recent times, has continued to perform up to billings, confronting defaulters and improving on its mandates of revenue collection, trade facilitation and Anti – Smuggling campaign.
The recent arrival of Comptroller Joe Anani, as the Customs Area Controller has further placed the PTML command among the topnotch performing commands for the service with improved operations in terms of performance and on the path of growth.

The recent performance chart of the command as unveiled by Comptroller Joe Anani in his maiden press briefing at the command on Friday October 24, 2025, who disclosed a total revenue collection sum of N350,347,173,787.92 in nine months from January to September, 2025, saw the command performed creditably and is about equal to the entire performance revenue-wise in comparison to year 2024 with 12 months collection.
At the briefing, the CAC said the collected figure is 96.64% and almost equal to the N362,521,085,250.98 that was collected by the Command from January to December, 2024.
In a similar positive performing like manner, Comptroller Anani also revealed that the Command intercepted a 1X20FT container with marks and number GCNU1275880 falsely declared as supermarket items but upon 100% examination was found to contain pharmaceutical drugs.
Also revealed was the revenue performance of the command for third quarter of 2025, which the CAC disclosed a total of N116,243,603,670.58 revenue collected within the period. According to him, in comparison,the sum is 34.3 percent higher than the total sum of N86,584,012,733.43 collected in the third quarter of 2024.

However, the CAC said in a comparative analysis of the Command’s revenue performance in the last quarter, it showed that the command has maintained a steady increase in collection and this is happening despite the teething challenges of the B’Odogwu platform which the Command is fast overcoming.
On anti smuggling efforts of the command under Comptroller Anani’s watch, the CAC said that two containers of unregistered medicines were intercepted include: one (1) WE Tactical made in Taiwan Airsoft pistol, Two (2) magazines and 12 rounds of live ammunition, 1x40ft container with marks and number ACLU9806850 falsely declared as magnetic resonance imaging apparatus but upon 100% examination found to contain 6,262 cartons of antibiotics of various brands.
Also as regards the command’s relationship with other sister security agencies and stakeholders, Comptroller Anani added that in line with the CGC’s directive on enhancing customs community relationship, the command’s existing relationships with sister government agencies and other stakeholders have been boosted.

Meanwhile, the event witnessed a handover ceremony of seized medicaments, as Comptroller Anani handed the seized containers over to the Director of port inspection directorate of NAFDAC, in line with the collaboration policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
In his words, “Our anti-smuggling and enforcement drives remain intact without compromise. As a command, we are not compromising national security on the altar of trade facilitation.
“I have visited various agencies of government and received them in my office on similar visits where we renewed our resolve for regular cooperation, inter agency collaboration, intelligence sharing and crime prevention strategies.
“I want to thank our stakeholders and urge them once again to stay on the path of obedience to the law. Compliance saves time, saves money and helps in building a reputation for business growth towards migration into the AEO status.”

In his remarks, Dr Olakunle Olaniran Director, Port Inspectorate Division of NAFDAC who received the seizures thanked the NCS for their life saving enforcement drive.
He commended the memorandum of understanding between Customs and NAFDAC as a working pact while urging Nigerians to patronise only registered pharmaceutical vendors.
The NAFDAC Director also praised Comptroller Anani for supporting NAFDAC in its duty to safeguard Nigerian lives by ensuring such prohibited medicines including hypertension drugs and other prescription medications without NAFDAC Numbers are not allowed into the country.
